Please join us from 5pm till close in raising funds for Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino regions impacted by the fires. This is near and dear to our hearts, as it’s where Dio’s owner Stacey grew up. All proceeds from California wines sold will go to the Redwood Credit Union’s North Bay Fire Relief Fund. Unable to attend? Please consider making a donation to support the victims and relief efforts.
I grew up in Windsor, Sonoma County. It was the type of place where people drove with the windows down and their hands dangling out, feeling the wind. It was the type of place where sometimes the most interesting place to hang out as a teenager was the Safeway parking lot. And it was the type of place where many people could stay forever, and a handful chose to escape. It was pretty normal.
My family still lives there – my parents, sister, her husband, their kids. My extended family and best friends’ families are scattered across Sonoma, Mendocino and Napa counties. Except for a year in Uganda, I’ve spent every holiday season there. Windsor is still home.
It pains me to see the region burnt and demolished. That the normalcy has been disturbed. It hurts me that the neighbors I knew are hurt, that the roads I once traveled are gone, and that so many have lost so much.
I’m going to do something for my home. I hope you will join me.
